
Biography
Sahar Karimi, born in 1989 in Herat, Afghanistan, is an Afghan film actress, screenwriter, and director. She was the first Afghan woman to direct a feature film — 'Golsa' (2017), which tells the story of a female singer in Kabul. Sahar has been a voice for women in Afghan cinema and has worked to promote female representation in the industry. Despite the challenges facing women in Afghan society, she has continued to create films that tell important stories. After the Taliban takeover, she has been involved in supporting Afghan women filmmakers from exile.
